Bedford and Main Founder is Recertified by ACAMS
2023 started off strong as our founder, John Foster, was re-certified by ACAMS as an Anti-Money Laundering Specialist. ACAMS is the largest international membership organization for Anti-Financial Crime and Anti-Money Laundering Professionals. Mr. Foster was originally certified in 2016. Since then, he has used this certification to develop anti-money laundering as one of Bedford and Main’s core lines of business.
Responding to FINRA Rule 3310 and the Bank Secrecy Act, which call for broker-dealer firms to perform annual independent tests of their AML Programs, Mr. Foster developed a successful exam service to fulfill this need. He couples the ACAMS AML training with his hands-on knowledge of the broker-dealer industry and produces an extensive summary report for each test to help his clients maintain a solid and comprehensive AML program. From these core AML exams, the business has blossomed.
With over 50 exams completed to date, Bedford and Main now leverages its AML experience to assist firms in re-evaluating their entire anti-money laundering programs and supervisory procedures. Mr. Foster further notes that the most fulfilling AML engagements often come from our other core business lines. This includes helping brokerage firms that are required to hire an independent consultant as a stipulation to a FINRA Acceptance, Waiver and Consent (AWC) action. We have also specifically called upon our AML expertise to provide expert witness and litigation support for legal cases. These engagements typically prove to be more in-depth and more complex, providing one more reason the AML business has been such a rewarding endeavor.
